Expiration Dates

Produce is always changing. How will you keep up?

Eat This Now is published each Tuesday and tells you what fresh fruits and vegetables are best to enjoy this week! This is valuable information you can take to the your grocery store’s produce section or farmer’s market to help you successfully buy better. But watch out – much of the information in Eat This Now is perishable just like the stuff in the bottom of your fridge and actually goes out of code, spoiled by the next e-newsletter. Because:

Factors like weather, growing conditions and demand can change the quality, availability and pricing of specific produce items overnight. That is why you will find an expiration date at the top of each Eat This Now. You can read the archives, but that stuff is out of code – it’s old news and may have changed by now.

As a Produce Industry Insider (I’m a Sales Executive at a major produce wholesaler) I get to see and taste new arrivals right on the dock, get quality and volume updates from growers, inspectors and buyers, and talk to independent and chain retailers everyday! All of this information is dripped down into a list of items that are likely to be tasty, fresh and in-season this week – straight from the Produce Geek to your inbox, and hopefully right into your kitchen!

Find out how FUN fresh produce can be!
